Anyone?
I (figuratively) threw the workshop iPad down in disgust when I realized my 2004 Mercedes had this bit of German engineering baked in. (Yes, it was an insufficiently researched purchase, but I still love it.)
Short story about Sensotronics: The car keeps a reservoir of electrically-pumped high pressure brake fluid for braking whenever the master computer wants to. If you don't properly disable the electronics and try to do a brake job, you can/will permanently damage your brakes and possibly clamp stray pieces of matter (including fingers) in the automatically-actuating calipers.
Have any opponauts done their own brake jobs on Sensotronic systems? What's the deal? What are the precautions? What are the risks, assuming I follow your collective advice?
Also: on a car like this, should I machine the rotors every time or only sometimes ?

disconnect the ABS module. If you are doing the brakes and someone hits the key fob or opens a door, the car's network will be activated. Since the brake calipers will not be showing the correct bar (pressure) they will try to close. You can loose a finger easy. When I did brakes for Mercs, I just disconnected the ABS module. Nothing too fancy.

Apparently you can unplug the control unit for the Sensotronic system . It's under the hood.
